1.To add an Attachment, click the appropriate New button.
2.Enter a name for the Attachment.
3.From the Type drop-down list, you can choose between Linked File and Embedded File.
4.The main differences between embedded and linked files are where they are stored and how you update them.

Linked files are stored in a folder outside PMXpert (e.g. on your hard drive or network). Any changes made to the source file of a Linked file attachment will be reflected on any linked files the next time the "link" is accessed.  Note that using a Linked instead of an Embedded file for an attachment will save considerable space in your PMXpert database.

You can use a file or URL for a linked attachment.

1.To select a file, click the ellipsis next to the Linked File field.
2.In the Select Attachment window, find the file you want to use as an attachment and click Open.
3.Click Save to return to the Asset [New] window.
4.Alternatively, you can type a URL into the Linked File field.

Embedded files are stored within your PMXpert database. Embedded files do not change if you change their source file.

1.Click the Load Attachment button to bring up the Select Attachment window.
2.Find the file you want to use as an attachment and click Open.
3.Click Save to return to the Asset [New] window.
5.Click Save.
6.To view the contents of an attachment after it has been added to the selection grid, click to highlight the attachment and click the View Attachment button to the right.  This will allow you to view the actual attachment, i.e. the photo or document, as opposed to just the file information you see if you click the View button.  If the attachment is a web address, a web browser will open to the website.
